Recording Day 4
We sat and listened to the rough mixes before tidying up a couple of things. We changed a couple of bass parts, tried some different drum parts and added some extra electric to one of the songs.
We’re basically done with the drums, bass and first electric, and the songs are sounding great. I get a few days off while the songs then go to a guy called Dave Lynch in a studio in London. He’ll add some quirky stuff like synth riffs, programming and random sounds.
Then next Wednesday we’ll start four days of vocals and acoustic guitars. It’s an amazing process seeing the songs gradually come together. I’m really excited with how energetic and fresh the arrangements sound. The band has been amazing.
We’ve then got another guitarist in America who will do a bunch of extra stuff that will compliment Alex’s work, as well as a guy who’ll do piano, Hammond and other organ bits and bobs. And then at some point before Christmas we’ll record a session with a gospel choir, and then see what’s missing. We should be mixing by January, and hoping to release in March.
I’ll let you know how things go with the vocals, as that’s where I have to start working really hard!
