India - Day One

What an amazing start to our trip! You're not going to believe this...

Our team of six left for Heathrow on the Heathrow Express Train - someone who works at Heathrow had managed to arrange free tickets for us. Upon arrival at the gate for our BA flight, we were told that all six of us had been upgraded two classes from economy into Business. We had a whole section of business class to ourselves, even though the plane was packed. We had those amazing flat beds, great food, very relaxing! That's a total miracle. I've never been upgraded in countless long haul trips from economy, so for one to be moved would be amazing. But for the whole team to be moved, and then seated in the best section of the plane in a row of the BA 'pods' is totally miraculous!

Here's me with my "the complimentary Champagne is normal and I do this all the time" look on.

We arrived in India very late at night, to be met by a wonderful man called Vivian who runs Alpha in Mumbai. We then crashed at a transit hotel in Mumbai. This morning we've flown to Ahmedabad in the northern state of Gujarat. We've met with Jimmy, who is the local Coordinator for this region, and discussed the conference schedule. He's great and it promises to be a very good time.

Most of the team are shattered from the travelling and jet lag, but the girls (Simone Lamont - Administrator, and Anthea Anthony - speaker) dragged the guys (Ali Marshall - worship leader, James 'TM' Welsh - Sound & Visuals, Andy 'Wedders' Wedderburn - speaker, and me) out to a local shopping mall. We found this brilliant shop called 'Liverpool' - obviously a bastion of British style! To boot it had fantastic tacky gear. Sorry to all you Scousers out there.

Then after a late supper we hit that sack at our hotel. A good first day!
