Great song, loved it when I first heard it at shepherds bush - been waiting for the chords a while!
Can't start it as 'Great song' for three in a row would be excessive but I definitely agree. It's so nice to sometimes have some fairly simplistic melodies/lyrics/song structures that are easy for every to grasp and engage with (simplistic not meant in a rude way for I find these sort of songs the hardest to create!).
A little guitar trick I've found works quite well in the verses particularly is to start with the E power chord shape on the 7th fret of the A string (9th fret for the D and G string which you then hold throughout the verse) and keep all the other strings open and played. The holding the two fingers on the ninth fret, move your finger onto the 5th fret of the low E string for the A chord, 7th fret on the low E string for the B chord and the 9th fret on the low E string for the C#m. It creates a nice bass like progression whilst an almost pedal effect on the other strings. Probably haven't explained it as well as someone else could but yeah, give it a go - I think it works!
Cheers
Frank
Beautiful melody, love the lyrics. Has that sense of longing. I love the line "Jesus for Your Glory I will tell the story of the cross". It made me think of 1 Cor. 1:17 and how we don't preach the gospel with "words of human wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of it's power." We need to tell the story of the cross. Thanks Tim for the 'reminder' : )
haha I only realise that i'd repeated gaz with 'great song' after i'd posted, and there's no edit button for comments lol. Just tried your trick Frank, works really well - I understood anyways :) nice one.
This is gonna be such a great song to have during a communion service. The whole concept of 'remember' and 'remembrance' is underused during these times.
I love it!
the thing that strikes me about this song the most is the deep sense of awareness of the cross it conveys. i think it's the place our hearts have to start in any musical worship context. with true gratitude for what Christ did, we're opened up to encounter Him more fully. great work Tim.
"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light."
I Peter 2:9

Been blessed by it.
God Bless You
Tim.

Just like all of your songs, they touch you in such a heartfelt place. Such a simple message, but so truly powerful. Thanks, Tim.

Great song, so easy to relate to and sing, i love it! Can't wait to hear this on the live album too.
